Exelon celebrates 30th year of nuclear power generation

SENECA — Exelon’s La Salle Generating Station near Seneca celebrated its 30th anniversary of supply power to millions of customers.

Site Vice President Dave Rhoades said one the station’s biggest achievements was setting a world record for 739 days of continuous operation.

Construction on the plant began in 1974, and it entered into commercial service in 1984. It currently is licensed to operate until 2022-23.
