Cook Nuclear Plant To Get Overhaul

BRIDGMAN, MI   (WKZO} --   Talk about big money.  At a cost of 1.7-billion dollars,  the Cook Nuclear Plant in Berrien County is about to get a major overhaul, update and reconstruction.
I&M announced that its submitted a proposal to the Michigan Public Service Commission for a "Life Cycle Management Project" at Cook. Spokesperson Sara Bodner says that this is all intended to keep Cook running smoothly for the next couple of decades or so.
She says that I&M was given a 20 year license extension for Cook back in 2005, and this almost two billion dollar effort will ensure the facility is in top shape during that time.   They'll be replacing equipment and components that are close to running their life cycle, and the work could take as long as eight years.
